for Historians

Henry Pittock

The Pittock Mansion offers an impressive array of historical information for novice and seasoned historians alike. Generations of history and art are collected in a single place. They range from the architecture and the treasured collections of time-period furnishings and artifacts to the fascinating stories about how Henry and Georgiana Pittock contributed to shaping Portland's destiny.

The Pittock Mansion Society takes pride in the meticulous efforts made over many years by dedicated staff members and volunteers to preserve the past in a way that evokes dialogue, awe and imagination. We present ongoing exhibits that reflect artistic talents from the turn of the 20th century.

Visitors can study numerous styles which beautifully illustrate the turning of a dynamic century.

We try to give you a close-up look at some exceptional artifacts. Our most popular shows have included Decorative Art Glass from the Bob Rau collection; photography from Cronise Studios; Early American Art Pottery; Visions and Visionaries -- Early Oregon Artists; and Miles of Tiles, to name a few.
