Scenic overlook of Portland and Mt. Hood

In 1860, at the age of 26, Portland newspaper owner Henry Pittock married 15-year-old Georgiana Martin Burton. Together, Henry and Georgiana began a long life of work, community service and devotion to family that lasted 58 years and celebrated six children and eighteen grandchildren.

The Pittock Mansion has played Cupid for many years of budding or lifelong romance. Couples come to the mansion just to dream or enjoy the solitude. Our lush, fragrant gardens, miles of hidden hiking trails and the mansion's historical elegance are perfect backdrops for first-date picnics in the park, marriage proposals and anniversary celebrations.
